A long road trip is a great way to travel, but it also involves more miles, more drivers, and more chances for something to go wrong.

A quick insurance check before you go makes sure you are covered.

Who can drive

Check whether your policy covers other drivers. Some policies cover only named drivers. Add anyone who will share the driving.

Breakdown and roadside assistance

Confirm your roadside cover includes towing distances adequate for remote areas.

Belongings in the car

Car insurance often provides limited or no cover for personal belongings. Home or travel insurance may cover them.

Towing a trailer or caravan

Check whether your policy covers towing and whether the trailer or caravan needs its own insurance.

Keep documents handy

Insurance card or certificate
Roadside assistance number
Registration documents
Emergency contacts

This is general insurance information, not legal, financial, or insurance advice. Coverage depends on your specific policy, insurer, and jurisdiction. Read your policy documents and speak with a licensed insurance agent or broker before making decisions.
